What we collect

From the shop: the shop name, its address and hourly rate, and for each person their name, email address, role, and certificate number if they enter one. Passwords are stored only as a one-way hash — we cannot read them.

About the work: aircraft details, the findings your people record, the photographs they take, labour and parts pricing, and the quotes you send.

From the aircraft owner: their name and contact details, entered by the shop, and — when they answer a quote — what they approved or declined, when, and the IP address and browser the answer came from. That last part is deliberate: it is what makes the approval evidence rather than a claim.

Payment: handled entirely by Stripe. Card numbers never reach our servers. We keep a Stripe customer reference and the status of your subscription.

Two things we guarantee by design

Aircraft owners never see your cost or your markup. The page an owner opens is served by a separate part of the system that cannot read those columns at all. It is not a matter of hiding them in the display.

No shop can see another shop’s data. Every record is scoped to one shop and enforced in the database itself, not only in the application.

Flight instructors invited as free reporters see no pricing of any kind, and only the items they reported themselves.

Why we hold it

To run the service you asked for: recording findings, delivering quotes, recording decisions, and drafting maintenance record entries. We also use aggregate, non-identifying measurements — how long a capture takes, for instance — to make the product better.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your findings or photographs to train models for anyone else.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of processors, and only these:

• Supabase — database and file storage.
• Vercel — hosting.
• Stripe — payments.
• Resend — email delivery.
• Anthropic — drafting assistance for owner-facing wording and record text.

We share what each needs to do its job and nothing more. We do not give your data to anyone else unless the law requires it, in which case we will tell you if we are permitted to.

Photographs

Photographs of aircraft are stored in a private bucket. They are never on a public or guessable address. They are shown through short-lived links that expire, and an owner’s link can only ever reach photographs attached to their own quote.

How long we keep it

Maintenance records and approvals are kept for as long as you have an account, and are not deleted when a subscription lapses — they may be records you are required by regulation to keep. If you close your account we retain them rather than destroying them, so that they remain available to you and to the aircraft owner, unless you ask us in writing to remove them and we are able to.

Approval records cannot be edited or deleted by anyone, including us. That is a deliberate property of the system.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete personal information that is not part of a maintenance record we are keeping for you. Write to admin@safetywireapp.com and we will answer within thirty days.

Aircraft owners: your contact details were entered by the shop maintaining your aircraft. You can ask us what we hold about you, and we will help you and the shop resolve it.

Where the data lives

On servers in the United States. If you are outside the US, using the service means your information is processed there.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit. Passwords are hashed. Sessions are held in cookies that JavaScript cannot read. Owner approval links are unguessable, stored only as a hash, and expire.

No system is perfect. If we discover a breach affecting your information, we will tell you promptly and tell you what we know.
